In the valley of the mountains, we gather every year
To partake in our share of laughter, friends, and beer.
An organized chaos, four days of sun and fun,
The beauty of the forest, when the day has just begun.

To visit everyone, relax and just hang out,
Enjoy each other’s company, while dogs run all about.
The kids all one year older, and some are just brand new,
The grown ups are not sober, neither am I, too!

No better place to be, no better friends to see,
The bar’s insane, but who complains?
Cuz the liquor is all free!

The food is just fantastic, I wait every year,
To see what Farmer’s cookin’ up, it’s bound to make us cheer.
The coffee bar with roasted beans, our own blend,
The Wake-n-bake bloody bar will put you on the mend.

Mission Heights and Plankton will make you want to move,
Don’t pass up the bowl-of-life to keep you in the groove,
Nights are for dancing, and poker playing,
Days are for sleeping, and all together laze-ing.

Thanks to Padget, Chris, and Baker too, for hosting this crazy zoo!
And thanks to everyone else who pitched in too.
Four days of camping, living in the rough,
Kindof makes me wonder why we packed so much stuff!

Big Bottom Haiku
Ward Kaatz

often when I camp
I wake to the tomato
vodka, olive, yum

the gorge, telluride
measurements come natural
a splash, a drizzle

morning, Big Bottom
splish, splash, hand me Worcestershire
horseradish and dave’s

something is lacking
A kimme counted wrongly?
I know what it is

just five Syllables
it takes me to simply ask
Where the hell is Thorp?

Birthday Girl (Chris Kaatz 40th b-day)
Methuselah, dirt
Bristlecone Pines and mountains
Chris is not this old
